Joshua Foster, a student at Lee’s Summit West High School, is the grand prize winner in the national We the Students Essay Contest. As grand prize winner, Joshua receives $5,000 and a scholarship to attend the 2018 Constitutional Academy in Washington, D.C.
To compete in the essay contest, students answered the following question: “To what extent in the U.S. does the government–federal, state, and local–have the duty to monitor internet content?”
The essay contest is sponsored by the Bill of Rights Institute.
Joshua learned about the essay contest in his International Baccalaureate history class at Lee’s Summit West High School with teacher Steve Smith offering extra credit to students submitting an entry.
